If the following therapy terminology isn’t meaningful to you that’s ok! You don’t have to know about the types of therapy to benefit from therapy.
The jargon:
I am an integrative therapist rooted in relational therapy. I employ a person-centered, trauma-informed, culturally-responsive lens. I use cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), somatic therapy, emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), and play therapy.
What all the jargon means:
I am an integrative therapist, which means I use parts of many styles of therapy, and I tailor the treatment to each person’s situation.
I primarily use a relational style, which means I focus on building strong relationships with clients.
I am person-centered, which means I believe a person is an expert on their own life, and I focus on each client’s goals and strengths.
I am a trauma-informed therapist, which means I consider carefully what past events a person has been through, how that is impacting them in the present, and I work to help people heal from those events.
I am a culturally-responsive therapist, which means I believe that a person’s identity impacts their experience of the world, whether that be race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, religion, socioeconomic status, or other intersectional identities. I consider this closely when helping a client understand their experiences. I practice cultural humility, meaning I am curious about the experiences of other people whose identities differ from mine, and I always aim to self-reflect and learn more.
I integrate cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT), like exposure and response prevention (ERP) for OCD and anxiety. I also draw heavily from acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) to help clients change their relationship to their thoughts.
I bring in somatic therapy to help clients get out of their heads and into the feelings in their body in the present moment.
For couples and families, I use emotionally-focused therapy (EFT) to help heal feelings underneath conflicts.
I bring in play therapy with children and teens, because young people often learn through play.

Never! Therapy should be private, and I will never record you or use an AI notetaker.

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.
Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.
